Easy to read
Big numbers with clear lines between the boxes. Three board colours: Paper, Night and High contrast. There's also a view that fills the screen with one box at a time.

Easy to play
Pick a number and tap every square it goes in, or pick the square first. Undo as far back as you like. Mistakes aren't counted against you.

Hints that teach
A hint names the technique, like a hidden single or an X wing, and lights up the squares it depends on. Three hints a puzzle are free, and there's a library that explains ten techniques in plain words.

Five difficulties
Gentle, Steady, Tricky, Testing and Fiendish, graded by the techniques each puzzle needs. Every puzzle has one answer and never needs a guess. There's a daily puzzle too, with no streak to lose.

Every square is read out with its row, column and box and what's in it, and every button is labelled.

Your games and stats stay on your phone. Back them up to a file or export a spreadsheet whenever you want. More than one person can play on the same phone.

There's a small banner on the menus, never on the board. A full screen advert can show after you finish a puzzle, never during one, and not in your first few puzzles.
You can also choose to watch an advert for an extra hint, a day with a locked technique, a large print booklet or an hour with no adverts. In the UK and Europe the app asks whether adverts can be personalised, and you can change your answer in Settings.
Nine Complete is a one-off payment for unlimited hints, the whole technique library, printable large print booklets with the answers at the back, a choice of app icon, and no adverts.
Remove adverts costs less and only removes the adverts. Neither is a subscription.
Privacy and support
Your games, settings and statistics stay on this phone. There's no account to make. The full privacy policy says exactly what is kept and what is sent.
